So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31

Friday Devotional

John 1: 11-13 says: “He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

What does it mean to be born of God?

  • We have a new nature.

-We were born of parents.  We inherited natural characteristics and looks.  Our needs are selfish.  We cry for what we want

-Now we’re born of God.  We inherited supernatural characteristics and spiritual features. Our needs are spiritual.  We cry out and thirst for righteousness…and our fathers touch.

  • We have a new relationship.

-We are related to our natural parents by birth. We’re given certain rights and privileges.  We can walk in the house without knocking.  We have our place at the table. We have an inheritance.

This also brought certain responsibilities…We represent the family name, good or bad.

-We are related to God by our spiritual birth.  We’re given certain rights and privileges…immediate access to the father.  We have a place at the Fathers table. We have an inheritance.

This also brings certain responsibilities….We represent the family, and bear our father’s name.

For all of us who receive Him. To those who believe in His name.  We are now born of God.  We’re different now.  We’re a new creation.  Fact.  Done. Finished.  No matter what.
