About Iowa Speedway
Iowa Speedway is the nation’s most state-of-the-art motorsports facility located just south of I-80 in Newton, Iowa. It features Track-Cams which are installed in the road to enhance television viewers’ perspective of the race. The walls of the track are enforced with the SAFER Barrier which protects both drivers and fans. The track was designed by former NASCAR Champion Rusty Wallace, now an anchor and analyst for ABC-TV/ESPN.
The track offers 7/8 mile tri-oval racing and covers 600 acres of land. The tri-oval is 60 feet wide and includes a 20 foot apron. The 1.3 mile road course was designed by Alan Wilson with more than nine turns and it can be run two different ways. The facility also features six other race tracks.
Iowa Speedway is designed for year-round use and includes 25,000 permanent grandstand seats. It was designed as the first track in the world to protect fans and drivers through the use of SAFER barrier technology surrounding the entire perimeter of the track.
